Lawrence Richards Brown, our loving husband, father, grandfather and brother, was called home June 26, 1993 after a courageous fight against cancer. Lawrence was diagnosed with lung cancer (large cell) on March 10, 1993.

Lawrence, was born February 22, 1932, in Woodruff, Utah, to Mariner and Mae Richards Brown. He was the fifth of six children namely; Helen Mae, George Mariner, Mary Louise, Sarah Eileen, Lawrence Richards and Kenneth Richards. He attended school in Woodruff until the second grade and finished his schooling in Randolph. He attended Trade Tech College at Provo, Utah, and studied heavy duty mechanics there.
On October 13, 1952, he entered the Armed Service. He took his basic training at San Luis Obispo, California. After basic training, he spent 18 months in Japan and Korea. He was discharged from the service in October of 1954.

On June 24, 1955, he married Gwen Myers of Panguitch, Utah, in the Salt Lake Temple. They lived in Salt Lake for about three years, where Lawrence worked for Lang Construction Company as a heavy duty mechanic. In June of 1960, they moved to Woodruff to help his father on his ranch. He enjoyed ranching and spent many hours trying to improve the land that he loved so much. He especially enjoyed the time spent with his family up in the mountains cooking dutch oven dinners.

He was an active member of the LDS Church and had served as a bishop's counselor, Sunday School president twice, a high councilman, and various other callings. He accompanied many youth groups from the ward to the temple to do baptisms and received much satisfaction from this. He served for one year on the ASC Committee. He belonged to the American Legion and also the VFW. He loved people and enjoyed making friends wherever he went. He was a great man with a wonderful spirit and he will be dearly missed by his family and friends.

He had four children, Anelisa, born March 4, 1961; Laurie, born March 20, 1963; Lawrence Krehl, born May 11, 1967 and James Ryan, born December 12, 1973.

Funeral services will be held Wednesday, June 30, 1993 at 1 p.m. in the Woodruff Ward Chapel. Friends may call at Crandall Funeral Home in Evanston, Wyoming Tuesday, 6-8 p.m. and at the ward Wednesday one hour prior to services. Burial will be in the Woodruff Cemetery, Woodruff, Utah.
