The grandson of Rear Admiral Charles Dwight Sigsbee, he is buried next to his grandfather in Section 2 of Arlington National Cemetery. He was born in New York, New York, on May 31, 1918, while his father was taking tests for entry into the Naval Academy. Married August 14, 1943 at Columbus, Georgia to Georgie Mary Shepherd of Washington, D.C. He died June 20, 1956 at Lexington, Virginia in an automobile accident on Skyline Drive.
