MISSOULA —- Father Robert J. Beaulieu, 73, died on Saturday at St. Patrick Hospital from complications of lung and heart disease.

He was born Sept. 15, 1930, in Butte to Elore and Florence (Eddy) Beaulieu. He graduated from St. Joseph Grade School, Boys' Central High School, and Carroll College. Having completed theological studies at St. Edward Seminary in Kenmore, he was ordained for the priesthood of the Diocese of Helena on May 18, 1957.

His 44 years of active ministry included teaching and administration at Cathedral High School, Helena, and Girls' Central and Butte Central High School; pastoral ministries in parishes in Helena, Dillon, Butte, Ronan, Anaconda, Polson, Missoula, and Bozeman. He worked five years in the Diocesan Pastoral Office and four years with the National RENEW Team, Plainfield, N.J. On July 11, 2001, he retired from active ministry to live in Missoula, his favorite Montana city. He assisted weekends in the various parishes in the area.
