Benjamin F. "Bennie" Griffin, 80, of Jonesboro, AR., passed away peacefully Friday, Sept. 14, 2007, at Lakeside Nursing Home where he had been a resident since April.
Bennie, as everyone knew him, served in the Army during World War II in Hawaii. After retirement, Bennie talked a lot about Hawaii and wanted to go back for a visit but his health wouldn't let him.
He was a master plumber for many years and enjoyed his work. If he wasn't working, he was always puttering around in his workshop or visiting friends and neighbors and listening to his country music. He was of the Church of Christ belief.
Surviving are his two sons, Gary Griffin and Bobby Joe Griffin, both of Brookland; two grandsons, Connor Griffin and Garrett Griffin; two brothers, Jimmy Griffin and Danny Griffin, all of Jonesboro; four sisters, Dathel Lee of Jonesboro, Betty Smith of Yucaipa, Calif., and Belva Murray and Sammie Bullock, both of Trumann; and many nieces and nephews.
Bennie was preceded in death by his parents, J.A. "Bert" Griffin and Mary Ethel Griffin; an infant brother and sister; sisters, Edna Inez Griffin and Tressie Juanita Sala; and the mother of his two sons, Sharon Griffin.
Graveside services were in Pine Hill Cemetery. Emerson Funeral Home was in charge of all arrangements.
