Ruby Wilson Bohl, 83, died Thursday, Jan. 15, 2009, at Homestead Health and Rehabilitation Center in Garden City.
She was born Nov. 10, 1925, in Van Buren, Ark., to Benjamin F. and Hattie Ann Apple Cook.
Mrs. Bohl moved with her family to Watonga, Okla., when she was a young child.
In 1940, she married Walter Wilson in Watonga. They moved to Garden City in 1954.
On Sept. 18, 1981, she married Don Bohl in Garden City. They moved to Great Bend and returned back to Garden City in 1985. They have lived in Garden City since.
A homemaker, she enjoyed cooking, landscape gardening, her dogs, and spending time with her grandchildren.
An avid musician, she could play just about any stringed instrument.
She was a member of the Trinity Lutheran Church in Garden City, the Southwest Kansas Fiddlers and Pickers and Friends of the Lee Richardson Zoo.
She is preceded in death by her parents; an infant son, Allen Wilson; three brothers, Dave Cook, John Cook, and Dan Cook; and two sisters, Bonnie Stevens and Mary Stevens.
Survivors include her husband, Don Bohl, of the home; two sons, Mike Wilson of Garden City and Pat Wilson, San Antonio, Texas; two daughters, Phyllis Pickett of Garden City and Freda Kelley of Colorado Springs, Colo.; one sister, Nannie Little of Riverside, Calif.; nine grandchildren; and 11 great-grandchidlren.
There will be a funeral service at 10 a.m. Monday at Trinity Lutheran Church in Garden City. The ministers will be Lyle Stuehrenberg and Tim Appel.
Burial will be at Valley View Cemetery in Garden City.
Memorials can be made to the Alzheimer's Association in care of Garnand Funeral Home of Garden City.
