Actor. Born in Grange, Mississippi, for over three decades he was a popular figure in films and television. His first film role was at the age of 34 in "South Sea Rose" (1929), followed by "Billy the Kid" (1930). He is most remembered for his role as Soapy Jones appearing in fifteen western films such as "Stars Over Texas" (1946), "Black Hills" (1947), "Wild Country" (1947) and "The Westward Trail" (1948). For television, he appeared on multiple shows to include "The Cisco Kid", "Boston Blackie", "Wagon Train", "M Squad", "Lawman" and "My Three Sons". His final screen appearance was in the film "The Errand Boy" (1961), which was released after his death. He died of cancer at age 67 in Hollywood, California. (bio by: John "J-Cat" Griffith)
