Lurinda Selbe was born in Virginia, August 8, 1832, and died at the home of her daughter, Mrs. Amanda Whetstine, in Liberty, Kansas, August 9, 1907, being 75 years and 1 day old. She suffered a stroke of paralysis about four years ago and for the past year she has been helpless.
She was married March 22, 1849 to Richard T. Selbe to which union was born thirteen children, three daughters died when infants and four daughters and six sons are left to mourn the loss of their mother. Two of the daughters are living here, one at Coffeyville and one at Cherryvale, two sons living here, one in Meeker, Colo., one in Kansas City, one in Carl Junction and one in Ohio, nearly all whom were at her bedside when she died.
They moved from Virginia to Ohio and lived there about 14 years, moving to Kansas in 1877. The deceased has been a member of the Christian church the last 35 years of her life.
