Sterling Brown Bush, Sr., 78, died Friday, May 8, 2009 after an extended illness. A native of Cannon County, he was the son of the late Bob and Sylvia Foster Bush.

He is survived by his wife of 54 years, Jo Ann Smith Bush of Bradyville; son, Sterling Brown Bush Jr. (Jim) of Bradyville; sister, Betty Reed of Woodbury; grandchildren, Sterling Brown Bush, III "Bo", Elliott Harrison Bush, Dylan Cole Bush, Peyton Brown Bush and John Ethan Bush; three great grandchildren, Chloe, Kelly and Macie Bush; sister-in-law, Wilma Smith Hart of Bradyville; aunt, Edna Vance of Murfreesboro; three nieces, Teresa Gannon, Loretta Bennett and Tammy Trail, all of Manchester; and devoted friend, Leo Barrett.

He was a member of the Smith Grove Church of Christ, a veteran of the Korean War where he served in the Army and he was retired from Samsonite Corp.

Funeral services will be Sunday at 2 p.m. in the Chapel of Woodbury Funeral Home. Interment will follow in the Riverside Gardens. Visitation with the family will be today from 4 to 9 p.m. In lieu of flowers, donations maybe made to the Avalon Hospice, Alzheimer s Assoc. and the Smith Grove Church of Christ Building Fund.
