Funeral services for W.J. "Jay Bird" Hammond, 66, of Louisville, formerly of Cadiz, were conducted on Tuesday, October 7, 2008, at 10 a.m., at Goodwin Funeral Home.
James Bosworth and Rev. Monty Flanigan officiated at the services. Burial followed in East End Cemetery in Cadiz.
Mr. Hammond died on Friday, October 3, 2008, at 6 a.m., at his home of natural causes.
Mr. Hammond was born on July 7, 1942, in Cadiz. He was the son of the late Mark and Ruby Armstrong Hammond.
Mr. Hammond was retired from Ford Motor Company after 32 years; member of Valley Station Masonic Lodge No. 511, American Legion, AMVETS, VFW, was a U.S. Army veteran; and was a member of Liberty Point Baptist Church.
Survivors include a sister, Shirley Cavanah of Hopkinsville; and a nephew, Michael J. Cavanah of Russellville.
