Madeline Sue Mathieu Arnold
Madeline "Sue" Arnold of Mount Vernon, Texas passed away, Sept. 27, 2011 at Trinity Mother of Francis hospital in Tyler, Texas.
Madeline was born Oct. 18, 1932 in Eldorado, Illinois to August Joseph Mathieu and Effie May Upchurch, She married Winston (Pete) Alton Arnold on January 3, 1954 in Eldorado, Illinois. Pete was career US Air Force. Over the course of his career, they lived in Texas, Kansas, Illinois, Colorado, Georgia, Alabama, Florida, and Arkansas, as well as The Philippines and France.
Madeline loved to spend time with her family, traveling, fishing, reading, she especially liked reading her Bible.
Madeline was valedictorian of her class in 1950 at Eldorado High School. She was preceded in death by her parents August and Effie Mathieu, brother's, Francis Joseph (Joe), Edward Nolen (Ed), Charles (Charlie) Carlton Mathieu who died in May of this year. She was also preceded in death by sisters, Dorothy May Mathieu, Betty Lou Mathieu and Ruth Mathieu Dorman Brooks
Madeline is survived by her husband Winston Alton (Pete) Arnold and her four son's, James W. Arnold (Juanita), Mt. Vernon, Vincent R. Arnold, Mt. Vernon, Terry L. Arnold (Terry), Federal Way, WA, Joseph A. Arnold, Longview, fifteen grandchildren, twenty two great grandchildren, three great-great grandchildren. Sisters: Jewel Wiseman Baldwin, Wilma Shelton and June Bean.
Madeline was laid to rest on Oct. 1, 2011 at Mount Vernon City Cemetery. Pall bearers were, James Arnold, Dylan Arnold, Jason Arnold, Matthew Arnold, Kevin Anderson and Chris Carrol.

Funeral services for Madeline "Sue" Mathieu Arnold, age 78 of Mount Vernon, were at 10 a.m. Saturday, Oct. 1, 2011 at Harvey Funeral Home. Burial was in the Mount Vernon City Cemetery.
Mrs. Arnold was born Oct. 18, 1932 in Eldorado, Ill., to August Joseph Matthieu and Effie May Upchurch. She married Winston "Pete" Arnold on Jan. 3, 1954 in Eldorado. She lived in the Phillipines, France, and many other states, where he was stationed in the United States Air Force. She was a homemaker and of the Baptist faith.
She died Tuesday, Sept. 27 at Trinity Mother Frances Hospital in Tyler. She was preceded in death by her parents, three brothers, Joseph, Edward, and Charles Matthieu, and sisters, Dorothy May Mathieu, Betty Lou Mathieu, and Ruth Mathieu Dorman Brooks.
She is survived by her husband, Winston Arnold of Mount Vernon; four sons and their spouses, James W. and Juanita Arnold and Vincent R. Arnold, all of Mount Vernon, Terry Lee and Terry Lynn Arnold of Federal Way, Wash., and Joseph A. Arnold of Longview; 15 grandchildren, 22 great-grandchildren, three great-great-grandchildren, and three sisters, Jewel Baldwin, Wilma Shelton, and June Bean.
Pallbearers were Kevin Anderson, James Arnold, Jason Arnold, Dylan Arnold, Chris Carroll, and Matthew Arnold.
