Mrs. Dewey Hohen, 71, of rural Daykin, Neb., died Feb. 28, 1971, in the Jefferson county Memorial hospital.
Clara Katherina Haake, was born Dec. 3, 1899 at Daykin, Neb., the daughtr of Frederich J. Haake and Anna Klaus Haake. Early in childhood she become ill with rheumatic fever which was to leave her with a weakness for the remainder of her life.
She was bapatized Dec. 17, 1899 and confirmed in St. John Ev. Luther church at Daykin March 16, 1913. She was a devoted member of the church and also of St. John Lutheran Church Women.
She was married Nov 28, 1928 to Dewey Hohensee of Farbury at St. John Ev. Lutheran church and lived in the Daykin area until her death. Three children were born to them, a son, Richard Dayle, preceding her in death.
Surviving are her husband, Dewey Hohensee of Daykin, daughter, Miss Gertrude Hohensee of Omaha, son, Roger of
Blair; two grandchildren, Karla and Stephen; four sisters, Mrs. Anna Henry of Eaton, Colo; Miss Minnie Haake, Mrs. Arthur Strothman and Mrs. Ella Brown, all of Daykin, and two brothers, John Haake of Willamina, Ore., and Herman Haake of Daykin.
Funeral services were March 3, in St. John's Ev. Lutheran church with Pastor A. H. Schelper officiating. Mrs. Leonard Marshman was soloist and Mrs. Franklin Marschman, organist. Pallbearers were Donald Haake, LaVerne Schweer, Ralph Strothman, Bill Strothman, Dean Endorf and Roger Walls. Interment was in the church cemetery.
