Lorraine was born on May 8, 1925 in Detroit to Stanley and Barbara (Wojciechowski) Sowa. She was married on November 14, 1942 to Gilbert Koss, and they were married nearly 61 years until Gil passed away in 2003. Lorraine worked many years in sales and secretarial work, including over 20 years as the office manager at McNichol Steel in Detroit. She retired in 1986, and in 2009 she moved to Toledo to be near her daughters. Lorraine loved Tiger baseball, bowling, pinochle and restaurant dining, but most of all she loved family and friends and spending time with them.

Her children were Laurel Koss Obodzinski, Barry Koss, Joanne Koss Stanchin, Gilbert Koss, and Linda Koss. Her grandchildren were Michele (Mike) McKinney, David (Melinda) Obodzinski, Phillip Stanchin Jr , Adam Stanchin, Robert Saxman, Sara Saxman, and Megan Tyler. The great-grands, who called her GiGi, were Ashley, Kayla, and Zachary Obodzinski.
