Professional Football Player. For twelve seasons (1966 to 1977), he played at the offensive guard position in the National Football League with the Detroit Lions and Green Bay Packers. He attended Arnold High School (Pennsylvania) and played collegiate football at the University of Virginia prior to being selected by the Lions during the seventh round of the 1965 NFL Draft. He would appear in a career 142 games. Off the field, he was heavily involved in charitable causes and established the "Kowalkowski Open" golf tournament in 1973 which benefits the Leader Dogs for the Blind. His son Scott Kowalkowski was also a former player in the NFL. (bio by: C.S.)
