Ernest Leo Bourke, Jr., 90, of Lynchburg, died Wednesday, February 6, 2008. He was the loving husband of the late Katherine Petratos Bourke for 62 years. Mr. Bourke was born January 13, 1918, in Malden, Massachusetts a son of the late Ernest Leo Bourke, Sr. and Ida Richardson Bourke. He was retired Restaurant Owner of Atlantic Lunch, and served his Country in the U.S. Army during World War II, receiving the Bronze Star, a former member of Moose Lodge #715, Elks Club of Lynchburg and the First Niters Bowling Association and a member of First Baptist Church. He is survived by a daughter, Linda B. and her husband, Carroll T. Mitchell, of Troutville, and a son, Ernest L. Bourke, III, of Lynchburg; two grandchildren, Tom Mitchell and wife, Amy, and Kathy Campan-elli and husband, Paul; four great-grandchildren, Cheyenne, Kyra, Carroll, III and Paul III. The family will receive friends from 6 8 p.m., on Friday, February 8, 2008, at Tharp Funeral Home, 220 Breezewood Drive, Lynchburg, Virginia. A funeral service will be conducted at 1 p.m., on Saturday, February 9, 2008, in the chapel of Tharp Funeral Home, with Reverend Robert K. Brubaker, officiating. Interment will follow in Spring Hill Cemetery. Memorial contributions may be sent to First Baptist Church, 1100 Court Street, Lynchburg, Virginia 24504.
