Richard Lee Brockman, 80, of Lynchburg, died Wednesday, November 21, 2007, in Lynchburg General Hospital. Born in Amherst County on February 14, 1927, he was the son of the late Paul Tucker Brockman and Louise Fulcher Brockman. In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his brother L. Barnes Brockman, Sr. and his sister Linda Hatcher. Richard was an Army veteran of the Korean Conflict, and was retired from the Lynchburg Police Depart-ment. He was an active member of West Lynchburg Baptist Church, where he was a Deacon, a long time usher, and former assistant treasurer. He was also a member of the Elks Lodge and a lifetime member of the Fraternal Order of Police. Richard is survived by his wife of 56 years, Juanita Feazelle Brockman; his son Richard Lee Brockman, Jr. and his wife, Lisa of Concord. A funeral service will be held 2 p.m., Monday, November 26, 2007, in West Lynchburg Baptist Church by the Reverend Dr. Michael Cox. Interment with honors rendered by fellow Lynchburg police officers will follow in Fort Hill Memorial Park. The family will receive friends at West Lynchburg Baptist Church on Monday, November 26, 2007, prior to the funeral, 12:30 p.m. until 2 p.m. The family requests that memorials take the form of contributions to West Lynchburg Baptist, 3031 Memorial Avenue, Lynchburg, Virginia, 24501.
