Eloise P. Banks, 89, of Greenville, passed away Thursday
afternoon, Oct.30, 2003, at Spectrum Health Continuing Care
Center, Grand Rapids. The daughter of Omer Flint and Mable M. Winifred M. Casselman Hanscom Hulbert, she was born on June 11, 1914, in Chesaning. After attending County Normal in Standish, Eloise taught in one-room schools for many years. She earned her bachelor's degree from Central
Michigan University in 1958. She retired from the Bay City
Public School system and later moved to Greenville. In retirement she was an active member of Community of Christ
Church (formerly the Reorganized Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-Day Saints) in Greenville, having served as treasurer. Banks had a life-long love of education, music and reading. She also was a talented musician and anjoyed "fancy-work" crafts, needlepoint, sewing and baking.
She was preceded in death by her husband, Lial Banks, in
1965. She is survived by two sons and daughters-in-law, James L. and Karen Banks of Lake Odessa, Thomas L. and Marvyn Banks of Millington; a sister, Elaine Banks of Greenville; six grandchildren; two great-grandchildren; a special niece, Sue and Dale Leyder of Gowen; a special nephew, Bill and Sue Banks of Big Rapids; several nieces and nephews; and many great-nieces and great-nephews.
Graveside services were today at Gibson Township Cemetery
