Roman Catholic Saint. According to tradition, Saint Agnes was Roman raised in a Christian family. She was martyred at the age of twelve or thirteen during the reign of Emperor Diocletian, in 304. She is the patron saint of young girls. Her memorial commemorates her martyrdom on 21 January.
