Charles (Charlie) Eddie Carter - EDEN - Charles (Charlie) Eddie Carter, 67, passed away December 15, 2012 at Hospice of Savannah after a long illness. Charlie was born on March 20, 1945 in Collins, GA to the late Talmadge and Bell Smith Carter. He was a caring and generous father, loving brother, and dedicated friend, who always had a joke to share. He enjoyed the outdoor life and never missed an opportunity to go fishing, shrimping, or to tend his garden. He is survived by two daughters, Rhonda (Richard) Newell of Statesboro and Kim (Larry) Exley of Rincon; one son, Dusty (Brandi) Carter of Bloomingdale; one brother, JT Carter of Guyton; three granddaughters, Jill Exley, Erika Stokes, and Sydney Newell; four grandsons, Trey Exley, Dustin and James Carter, and RJ Newell; one great-granddaughter, Kori; and several nieces, nephews, and cousins. Charlie was never afraid of a hard day's work. He was a jack-of-all -trades, who worked for several companies in and around the Savannah area including Southeastern Freight Lines, Liquid Air Corporation, and Five Lines Transportation. He also owned and operated the former Charlie's Bait and Tackle in Springfield and Houlihan Bait and Tackle in Port Wentworth. He retired from Mahany Construction Company in 2009. A memorial service will be held on Thursday, December 20, 2012 at 11:00 AM at Central Baptist Church in Garden City.
