Henry Zenas Osborne

US Congressman. During the Civil War, he served in the 192nd Regiment, New York Volunteer Infantry, Union Army. After the war, he worked as a printer, reporter, editor and publisher, for the New York Times. Relocating to California, he was a receiver of public moneys at Bodie, California, (1878-84, collector of customs in Los Angeles, (1890-94) and a US Marshal for the southern district of California, (1898-1906). He was also commissioner of the board of public works, Los Angeles, (1914-15). In 1917, he was elected as a Republican to the Sixty-fifth, Sixty-sixth and Sixty-seventh Congresses and served until his death at age 74. (bio by: John "J-Cat" Griffith)
