He was a farmer and carpenter and blacksmith. Was married to Susan Sumner of Sumner, Texas. They were married Apr. 29th 1869. He was 20, and she was 16. They came to Indian Territory (Oklahoma) in 1889 by covered wagon on the Shawnee Trail. This was when the land was opened up to settlers. They settled in Bryan Co. then later moved to Boswell, I.T. They had 13 children but only four lived any length of time. Ellen, Mary, Nina, and Rody who died very young. He was living in Soper, Ok. when he died.
