J. L Aman Athens, Texas
Funeral services for Joseph L. Aman, 85 who died Tuesday in the Athens hospital after a long illness, will be held Thursday at 2 p.m. at the Carroll and Lehr memory Chapel.
The Rev. H.C. Parker and the Rev. Johnny Williams will officiate, and the burial will be in the Shelby Chapel Cemetery. Mr Aman moved to Athens from Kerens in 1935.
Survivors are one daughter, Mrs. Maggie Davis of Athens, one sister, Mrs. Nannie Sanders of Groesbeck, a half brother, Ely Amon of Corsicana, four grandchildren and three great grandchildren.
Notes: He was married at one time to an indian from Oklahoma. My grandmother told me when he was married to her, they would walk everywhere they went. They came to visit her several times and they would walk. My grandmother said they would follow the river
most of the way. He was married several other times, but don't know the names of all of his wives. This is from Esther Yvonne Page Sanders, a great niece.
In the 1920 Census of Robertson County, it shows Joseph Aman, age 38, living there with his wife, Onamie, age 25, born in Oklahoma.
