Floyd Allen ‘Blackie' Anderton
Funeral services for Floyd Allen "Blackie" Anderton, 74, Malakoff, have been scheduled for 10 a.m. Wednesday at Carroll-Lehr Funeral Home Chapel with the Rev. O. E. Davis officiating.
Burial will follow at Ash Cemetery.
Mr. Anderton passed away Monday evening at an Athens hospital.
He was born Aug. 4, 1931, in Mobile, Ala., to the late John and Lizzie Anderton.
Floyd was raised in the Black Jack Community for most of his life before moving to Malakoff where he lived for the past 10 years. Floyd loved to tinker with cars and tractors. He was a busy man who was always in a hurry.
He is preceded in death by his wife Bertie Anderton, brothers, John Anderton, John Henry Anderton, Kenly and Robert Anderton and a sister, Vicie Hooper.
Survivors include his love companion, Eloise Powell, Malakoff; daughters and sons-in-law, Lottie and Michael McGee, Dottie and Junior Walker, Linda and Larry Logan, Brenda Graham, all of Athens; stepson, Charles Henry of Amarillo; step-daughter, Faye Harris of Tool; 48 grandchildren and numerous great-grandchildren and great-great-grandchildren and many nieces, nephews and cousins.
Pallbearers include Alton Chapman, Jeremy Adams, Tracey Edwards, Lester Loden, Joe Dan Parolini and Doyle Loden.
Honorary pallbearers are Floyd Allen and Preston Wood.
Family will receive friends at the funeral home Tuesday evening from 6 to 8 p.m.
