Fred died at home on Dye road in the town of Lyndon, Sheboygan, Wisconsin. (FAG would not accept the town of Lyndon as a place.) He died due to blood poisoning. He married Mary Hoffmann in 25 May 1878.

Children: Oscar, Arthur, John, Letta (Robert Elwood) Lee, unknown (William) Hanson, and Clare Levey.

His interment is actually in the Onion River Cemetery in the town of Lyndon, of what is now highway 28 and highway 57. His name is on the family headstone for Bauer. ( Check out obit at Sheboygan County Historical Research Center in Sheboygan Falls, Sheboygan, Wisconsin.)
