Wayne F. Claire, 80, of Campbell, Calif., entered into rest on May 1, 2005, in Campbell. He was born on April 4, 1925, in Alfred Station, N.Y., the son of Leonard and Mabel (Niles) Claire. For 57 years, he was the beloved husband of Barbara (King) Claire. Wayne served in Battery B of the 215th Field Artillery Battalion during World War II and fought in the Battle of the Bulge. Following the war, he moved to Beacon, N.Y., where he was employed by the IBM Corporation. He moved to California in the 1950s when IBM opened a new plant there, eventually retiring after a rewarding 37-year career in management. Wayne treasured family time, especially when camping and fishing. He spent countless hours on his computer doing genealogy research. He was also an avid walker and enjoyed bowling. He was a member of the Alfred Station Seventh Day Baptist Church. Survivors include one daughter, two sons, one sister, six grandchildren, and two great-grandchildren. He was preceded in death by eight siblings: Elzora, Altana, Ruth, Charles, Walton, Pearl, Bertha, and Robert. Graveside services were held on May 4, 2005, at the Los Gatos (Calif.) Memorial Park.
