Joseph McArdle was a fireman with the Kansas City Missouri Fire Department, and responded to a fire at 1417 St. Louis Avenue on February 7, 1893. As a result of his service at the fire, he contracted pneumonia, which caused his death two weeks later. Inscription reads: In Memory Of Jos. McArdle, Born in Ireland, Dec 1839, Died Feb. 21, 1893, Erected by the Firemen & Citizen friends. (bio by: Bill Walker)
