A Pathetic Death

William Silverthorn Beatty

We publish below a notice of the death of William Silverthorn Beatty,son of George W.Beatty,formerly of Hope,clipped from the Society Valley of the 11th ?? Our contempory says;

A more sincerely sorrowful and kindly sympathetic group of friends in the valley would be diffcult of conjector than that which realized a struggle with consumption had terminated fatally,when the news came from the South that William S.Beatty had died in New Orleans.The particulary distressing incident connected with the death of this young man lies in the situation surrounding his last hours.Geoge W.Beatty,his father,was bring him home from Phoeniz Arzonia,and he had at least hoped to have brethed his last within the four walls of home,tended by his mother's devotion.That he should die two days before his urgent and only wish could be fulfiled,and thus his one hope in life shattered,seems to reach a ??? in this world's disappointment,and /// makes commiseration and condolance but feeble antedote for the sad feelings of the family.His sickness extends probably over a period of one year.Early in this year he was induced to try Florida.Florida failed to restore the lost pearl.Then opportunity was offered to test the benefits to him of ranch life in Arizona,with equally unfruitful results.He finally entered a sanitarium at Phoenix,Arizona.It was while there that he first felt the ground slipping away from him,felt that his existance had narrowed to such an extent that home was the only place he cared to be,let the consequances be what may.His parents finally ////// to his pleadings that he be brought home,and the father started on the journey that to both family and friends has been fraught with so much sorrow.

William S.Beatty was a clerk in the employ of the Edison General Electric company's Pittsburgh office.His employer personally gave testimony to the confidance he placed in him and to his appreciation of his service.Prior to this position he was with Gilbert A.Hays,his first position in //// world.Though young in his 21st year his idea of business were good,and always such as to commend the employe to the employer.His quiet courteous,at all times respectful demeanor did much to endure him to a boast of friends old and young.Truly a youth who everybody loved.The funeral services were held at the home,Thorn street,Friday evening,April 10th,conducted by Rev.W.O.Campbell.Saturday morning the services of the interment were held and remains buriel in Sewickley cemetery.
