Shirley Lee Ard, 77, Adrian, MO died Friday, March 11, 2011 at Bates County Memorial Hospital in Butler, MO. Graveside services will be held at 11:00 a.m. Friday, March 18, 2011 at the Girard Cemetery in Girard, Kansas, under the direction of Atkinson Funeral Home in Adrian, MO. No visitation. Memorial contributions may be made to the Shirley Ard Memorial Fund or to Adrian Manor.

Shirley was born September 5, 1933 in Pittsburg, KS, the daughter of Fred and Ellen (Pitts) Lakin. She grew up in Liberal, MO and was a 1952 graduate of Liberal High School.

Shirley had worked in a restaurant in Girard, KS; she then went to live on the farm in Liberal with her parents. Shirley loved playing Bingo.

Shirley is survived by one daughter, Becky Comer and her husband, Bob of Adrian, MO; one brother, Dean Lakin and his wife, Betty and children, Kim and Philip, Columbia, MO and one grandson, Christopher Comer.
