Aaron E. Comer, 14-year-old son of Mr. and Mrs. Devon E. Comer of 744 Cove Road, died at 5:50 p.m. Tuesday in Burbank Hospital, Fitchburg, of a gunshot wound in the neck.
The youth was admitted to the hospital following a shooting in the home of a 13 year old companion on Monday shortly after 3:30 p.m. He underwent surgery for removal of the bullet, reportedly fired from an old hand gun and was reported in fair condition until noon Tuesday
A 13 year old boy, arrested on a charge of assault and battery with a dangerous weapon hi connection with the shooting, was arraigned in Fitchburg Juvenile Court Tuesday and the case was continued to Feb. 25. Police
Chief Frederick B. Hobbs and officials of the District Attorney's office are conducting the investigation.
Comer was taken to the hospital by Chief Hobbs. It was reported the two boys had been playing with an old hand gun when the shooting occurred.
Aaron was born in Ft. Wayne, Ind., July 15,1954, a son of Devon E. and Kathleen M. (McKevitt) Comer. He was an eighth grade student at Lunen burg Junior-Senior
High School, and was junior vice-commander of Squadron
283, Sons of the American Legion, and a member of the Junior Achievement program at the school. He was a member of the United Parish of Lunenburg, and a former member of Boy Scouts of America.
Besides his parents, he is survived by a brother, Kevin L., 10; two sisters, Norma Jean, 12, and Rebecca, 2, and his paternal grandparents, Mr. and Mrs. John Martin Comer of Churubsco, Ind.
Funeral services will be held Friday at 2 p.m. at the Frist Methodist Church. Burial will be in the South Cemetery. Rev. Levon R. Oliver, pastor, will officiate. Calling hours are in the Sawyer Funeral Home, Fitchburg, will be from 3 to 4 and 7 to 9 p.m. Thursday.
