WILLOW LAKE, Nov. 15 – (Special) Funeral services were held here yesterday for George Gavin, Clark county pioneer who died at the home of his daughter, Mrs. Katie Bergstresser, Monday.
Mr. Gavin was born Fayette, Wis. in 1857. He came to Clark county and filed on land in the fall of 1882. The following year he moved his family to the homestead three miles south of Willow Lake. For several years he engaged in farming and the sale of land. He moved to town in 1924.
Mrs. Gavin preceded her husband in death more than a year ago. Surviving are three children; Mrs. Katie Bergstresser of Willow Lake; James Gavin of Vienna and Mrs. Wendell Erbes of Rochester, Minn.
Funeral service were conducted at the St. Mary’s Catholic church with the Rev. Father Coyne officiating.
