Betty was the youngest child of Noel Jefferson Hudgens (1879 - 1941) and Willie Elizabeth Houston Hudgens (1882 - 1969)
Betty married Arthur Audubon Annis (1899 - 1972) on January 14, 1955. She and her husband moved to the Rockledge-Cocoa area in 1953 to build houses, shopping centers and apartment complexes. They built over 100 houses in Broadmore Acres and Cocoa Hills. They also built the Cocoa Hills Shopping Center (now Celebration Shopping Center) on Dixon Blvd., and the AAA Apartments on Fiske Blvd., as well as several other apartment and retail buildings in the area.
In the 50's and 60's, many workers at The Cape stayed at Betty's rooming house on Riverside Drive in Rockledge until they could bring their families to join them in Brevard County.
