Our beloved father, brother, uncle and friend, MANUEL H. BALLESTEROS, (Manny or Meme as he was known to many of his friends and colleagues) went to be with our Lord and Savior Jesus Christ on September 23, 2013, at the age of 83. He was born on August 22, 1930 in Corpus Christi, Texas to Marina and Luz Garcia; He lived the majority of his life in New Mexico from Bayard, Silver City to Las Cruces. Mr. Ballesteros was self-employed as a Painting and Drywall Contractor for the majority of his adult life. He took great pride in his craft and professional appearance by wearing the standard white shirt and painters pants daily. He worked all the way up until the age of 80 and provided for his family until the end. Although he only had a 6th grade education he could calculate numbers like nobody's business. He was even quicker than someone on a calculator. Manuel loved his family and would help them in any way he could, whether it be monetarily, advice, whatever. He was a very generous person and had a heart for the poor. He was always giving to others and would often provide pay advances to his workers if they needed it. Manuel was raised in the Catholic Church and even attended Catholic school. However, in his later years he accepted Jesus Christ as his Lord and Savior. He was unable to attend church on a regular basis but watched Charles Stanley on the television. Manuel had quiet strength about him. Do not confuse his silence for weakness. His loves were Boxing and the Dallas Cowboys. He was a boxer in his youth and was a Golden Glove Champ in I958.
Manuel was preceded in death by his wife of 44 years, Manuelita (Nellie); his mother, Marina Ballesteros; his brother, Ralph Ballesteros; son-in-law, Jesse Mendoza, and brother-in-law Charlie Morales Sr. He is survived by his twin brother, Silvestre Ballesteros and wife Ester; his two brothers-in-law, Joe Morales and wife Jane, and Tony Morales. Manuel is also survived by his four children; Daughter, Bertha Cano and husband Jesus of Albuquerque; daughter: JoAnn Sanchez and husband Albert of Las Cruces; daughter: Eva Ballesteros of Las Cruces; and Son: Antonio Ballesteros of Las Cruces. Manuel had seven grandchildren: Chris Cano and wife Shanna of Albuquerque, Brian Parra Cano and wife Carmen of Phoenix, Arizona, Joseph Mendoza, Joshua Mendoza, Jeremiah Mendoza, Albert Sanchez Jr. and Sharlotte Sanchez all of Las Cruces. He also had four great-grandchildren: Gabe Carrillo, Lawrence Sanchez, and Matthew Ramirez of Albuquerque and Yolehua Luna Parra Cano of Phoenix, Arizona. Along with four great-great-grandchildren, Shalia Carrillo, Gabe Carrillo Jr., and Adrianna Carrillo all of Albuquerque and Clementine Sanchez of Las Cruces. Manuel had many nieces and nephews.
Manuel, we thank you for all your love, generosity and the lessons you taught us.
Until we meet again in Heaven.
