Mary Frances Strange Leeson died at the age of 77 in Colorado Springs, El Paso County, Colorado on July 22, 1916. She was born August 29, 1838 in Kentucky to Jacob Strange(1801-?) and Catherine 'Kitty' Robards (1798-1889). On the 1850 Federal Census she lived her parents and siblings in Washington, Kentucky.
She married Thomas Sherman Leeson (aka Leason) on December 10, 1857 in Brown, Kansas when she was 19 years old. To this union, they had six children: Harriet W. Leeson Covert (1860-1945), Catherine Leeson (1862-about 1947), Marquis 'Marcus' L. Leeson (1865-1930), Sanuel Leeson (1866-1946), George William Leeson (1869-1946), and John Fowler Leeson (1879-1941).
Her husband died in 1899, and she continued to live in Kanas as evidence by the 1910 Federal Census listing her as widowed living in Valley, Morris County Kansas at the age of 72. She then was unable to live by herself and moved in with her daughter Kate in Colorado. She died of nephritis which had been diagnosed over 2 years prior to her death.
She was buried next to her husband in Downing, Kansas. Boone Undertaker Company of Colorado City, Colorado was in charge of the arrangements.
