Edward Lee Boykin Sr., beloved son of the late Ruth Barnes Boykin Smith and the late Howard Taft Boykin, was born in Wilson, North Carolina on July 6, 1934.
Edward began his education in Wilson, North Carolina. In 1943 Edward parents relocated their family to Baltimore, Maryland, where Edward completed his education in The Baltimore City Public Schools System.
After completing High School, Edward enlisted in The United States Marine Corps and served his Country Honorably during The Korean War.
Edward married Rosetta Hill in 1956 and remained married for fifty-two years until his death.
Edward was employed at the Lord Baltimore Press Company as a Press Stripper until he became Disabled.
"Gray", as he was called by all who loved and knew him was a loving, kind and devoted family man and friend. Gray loved to dance, sing, tell jokes and meet people just to have a good time.
On Sunday, September 23, 2007 at Sinai Hospital God silently called Edward into His Heavenly Home. Edward will be sincerely missed by all who loved and knew him.
Two sisters, Edna Ruth Boykin and Cora Mae Boykin Cook; one brother, James Clinton Boykin preceded Edward in death.
Edward leaves to cherish his loving memories; his wife, Rosetta; his children, Lavar, Tonya, Edward Jr., Tamera, Robin and Marcel; a host of grandchildren and great-grandchildren; sister, Helen Bazemore; a host of aunts, uncles, nieces, and nephews; daughters-in-law; and other loving relatives and friends.
