Eva Wood Thomas Barnes was born in Richmond, Virginia on July 16,1909. The fifth child of the late James Peyton Wood and the late Ida Jackson Wood. On Saturday, February 4,1995 in Englishtown, New Jersey, God silently called Eva into His Heavenly Home.
Eva attended the Richmond Public Schools. Eva was a member of the Fourth Baptist Church at an early age. In 1928, Eva married James A. Thomas and their union was blessed with two children. Eva later met and married the late General Barnes.
Eva lived a quiet life as a Homemaker, enjoying her close relationship with her family and friends. Eva will be sincerely missed by all who loved and knew her.
Eva leaves to cherish her loving memories; two daughters, Mrs. Velma Thomas Nelson and Jacqueline Thomas Paige; one sister, Mrs. Ida V. Scales; one son-in-law,James W. Paige; eight grandchildren; fourteen great-grandchildren; two great-great-grandchildren; one sister-in-law, Mrs. Louise Wood; eleven stepchildren; a host of nieces, nephews, cousins and other relatives and friends.
NOTE: Eva was the beloved third wife of General Barnes.
