Janice's parents were residents of Cisco, Texas when she was born in the Gorman Hospital. Her early years were spent in Cisco until her father, Luke, became an oil field worker. They moved many times during the oil field years, living in Winters and Tyler among other places. They returned to Cisco during high school and she graduated there in 1965.
She met her husband, Thomas, at the old skating rink below the Cisco dam. They married in June 1965, shortly after her graduation. Their daughters were born in 1967 and 1972. Having lived in different towns and attending 9 different schools during her childhood, Janice determined to raise her daughters in Cisco. She remained a resident of Cisco her entire adult life.
She worked at the glove factory and Russell Newman sewing factory in her early adult years. She was a Cisco school bus driver and a secretary for the Cisco Police Department where she retired after 19 years of service. After retirement she was a self-taught jewelry designer.
She was married 48 years and a grandmother of five.
