George Barrow, 76, Garrison, died Sunday, March 28, 2010, in a Garrison hospital.

George John Barrow was born Dec. 24, 1933, in Endres Township to George Jr. and Eleanor (Ulrich) Barrow. He attended school at Endres, Tacoma, Wash., and graduated from Garrison High School in 1951.

George married Dianne Linnertz Franklin on Oct. 15, 1966, in Garrison, N.D. Together they raised six children. Dianne passed away Feb. 16, 2003.

George worked as a mechanic for several years. He worked for Wretling Chevrolet, Rensch Farm Store and Ron's Auto Repair. His true love, however, was farming. He retired from farming in 1999. After his retirement he created an orchard consisting of grapes, Juneberries, and several varieties of raspberries, blueberries and blackberries. From his orchard he produced various types of wine. He was very proud of his orchard.

George's hobbies were woodworking, wine making, gardening, hunting, fishing, and traveling. George was very talented and could make anything he was asked to do, or anything he set his mind to do, and it was done to perfection. He made a set of Lincoln Logs for his grandchildren, which provided many hours of enjoyment for them. He was always willing to teach anyone anything they showed an interest in.

George's survivors include: his daughters, Deborah (David) Reinarts, Donna (Mike) Hudgen, Denine (Dave) Baluski, all of Garrison, Danette (Duane) Lesmann, Westhope; sons, Dean (Donna) Franklin, Garrison, and Richard Barrow, Minot; brother, Jim (Jean) Barrow, Garrison; sisters, Doris Gilles, Minot, Marge (Tom) Provost, Roseburg, Ore., Betty (Greg) Irwin, Newark, Calif., Barb (Ed) Long, Dexter, N.M., and Joyce (Rick) Vreeland, Minot; 10 grandchildren; 10 great-grandchildren, and his special friend, JoAnn Zimmerman, Garrison.
