Chief Warrant Officer (3) McCall was the pilot of an OH-58 helicopter when it exploded in flight during a ferrying mission and crashed into the woods near the town of Eschenbach in der Oberpfalz (about 50 miles NE of Nuremberg), in the district of Neustadt, Bavaria, Germany.
