Edwin served in the Confederate States Army. He enlisted in Fayette Co., Alabama into the cavalry. His rank was 3rd Corporal, in the 4th Alabama Regiment under Captain Easom Kelly and Colonel F.M. Lyons. He was wounded at Ebenezer Church near Selma during Wilson's Raid (aka Battle of Selma) in May, 1865.
