Erle Davies, 77, 5966 N. SE 123, died Saturday at Middletown Hospital after an extended illness.
Born in Saginaw, Michigan, he lived most of his life in the Middletown-Franklin area. He retired from Armco Steel Corpl's coal-strip department where he was known by hia co-workers as "Poppy" -and also was active as a scorekeeper in the Franklin Slo-Pitch Assn.
He is survived by his wife of 53 years, Katherine; two daughters, Mrs. Phyllis Chamberlain and Mrs. Ruth Shaffer, both of Franklin; eight grandchildren; six great-grandchildren; and three step-great-grandchildren; and three two borthers, Roy of Hamilton, and Harry of California.
Private services were held Monday at the Unglesby Funeral Home with the Rev. Harry Sinks officiating. Burial followed in Springsboro Cemetery.
Contributions may be made to Davies' name to the Red Lion Methodist Church.
