Sixth of nine children born to William Southard (1891-1978) and Flossie Maize Hite (1893-1968). Her parents moved from Dallas County, Missiouri around 1916 and she was born in Roberts County, Texas. She married George Worth Briley (1914-1993). George was the son of George Washington Briley (1859-1918) and Ida Frances Ash (1869-1952).

Mary Elizabeth "Beth" Briley, 85, died Monday, March 11, 2013. Graveside service is at 2 p.m. Saturday in Lakeview Cemetery. Arrangements are by Winters Funeral Home. Survivors include her sister, Marie Cacy of Monahans; and brother Lawrence Southerd of Bakersfield, Calif.
