HENRY BURLEIGH DIES SUDDENLY AT ORANGE HOME

Services to Be Held Today for Former Bellevue Resident

Funeral services will be held this Thursday morning at 9 o'clock for Henry Joseph Burleigh, 41 years, who died suddenly Tuesday afternoon in Orange, Texas. The body is resting at Lafond and Son Funeral home.

Religious rites will be read at the Sacred Heart Catholic Church in Grand Coteau, and interment will be made in the adjacent cemetery.

A native of Bellevue, Mr. Burleigh had resided in Orange for ten years. He is survived by four sons, Llewelly, Aeril, and Lowery Burleigh of Orange; Edward Burleigh of Crowley; one daughter; Mrs. Clyde Hart, Lake Charles; his father, Lester Burleigh Sr., of Opelousas; a sister, Mrs. Charles Lavergne of Opelousas; six brothers, John Burleigh, Opelousas; Lester Burleigh, Tulsa, Okla.; Edgar Burleigh, Port Barre; Leo Burleigh, New Orleans; Hubert Burleigh, Mound; and Francis Burleigh, Jeanerette; and 11 grandchildren.

To Be Thursday


Funeral services will be held at 9 a.m. Thursday at the Grand Coteau Catholic church for Henry Joseph Burleigh, 61, a native of the Bellevue community who died at his home in Orange, Tex., yesterday afternoon.

Mr. Burleigh had lived in Orange for the past ten years, and was well known both there and in St. Landry parish.

The remains will arrive at the Lafond and Son Funeral home at 5 p.m. today, and the funeral will leave the Lafond parlors at 8:20 a.m. tomorrow, Father Barry will officiate at the services in Grand Coteau.

Mr. Burleigh leaves four sons, Llewellyn Lowery and Aereal Burleigh, all of Orange; and Edward Burleigh of Crowley; one daughter, Mrs. Clyde Hart, Lake Charles.

Also surviving are his father, Lester Burleigh, route 1, Opelousas; one sister, Mrs. Charles Lavergne, Opelousas, and six brothers, John Burleigh, Opelousas; Edgar Burleigh, Port Barre; Lester Burleigh, Tulsa, Okla.; Leo Burleigh, New Orleans; Hubert Burleigh, Mound, La., and Francis Burleigh, Jeanerette. There are eleven grandchildren.

OPELOUSAS, May 8-- Funeral services were held this morning at a Requiem Mass at the Sacred Heart Catholic church in Grand Coteau for Henry Joseph Burleigh, 61 years, who died suddenly in Orange, Texas. The body rested at Lafond and Son Funeral home until today. Burial was made in the Grand Coteau cemetery.

A native of Bellevue, Mr. Burleigh had resided in Orange for ten years.
