Catherine was born in 1827 and in January of 1848, she married Benjamin Franklin "Frank" Beeson. Between 1849 and 1869, they had ten children, all born in Wayne County, Indiana.

The children born to Frank and Catherine were:

Infant son, died at birth in 1849
William M., who died in 1873, aged twenty-two years
Oliver H., a prominent farmer of Wayne county
Joseph F., who died in 1873, aged eighteen years
Elizabeth, wife of Albert Williams, a farmer of Wayne county
Sanford G., who died in 1873, aged thirteen years
Elmer E., owned a meat market in Cambridge City
Ira J., who died as an infant in 1869 (a little over a year old)
May, wife of J. Coyne, a farmer
Minnie, wife of F. Florea

In early April of 1873, their eldest son, William, had fallen ill and died. By mid-April, Catherine herself took ill and also died. Within a month of Catherine's death, another son, Sanford, also fell ill and died. And, by August of that year, a third son, Joseph, also died from the same illness. The cause of death of the mother and all three children was recorded as ‘spinal meningitis'; an apparent epidemic that hit the Beeson family especially hard and fast.
