Son of Richard Chandler, Jr.(1775-1859)and Charity Parks Chandler(1776-1857).
Migrated with the family to Franklin County, Georgia by 1813 and eventually to Carroll County, Georgia where he is most likely buried.
He was a member of several Primitive Baptist churches along with most of the family. He served in the Georgia State Militia as a Lieut. from Franklin County in the 1820`s and as a private soldier for the Cherokee Indian removals of 1838.
He married Jerusha White on May 3, 1827 in Franklin County, Georgia before moving to Carroll County.
Two of his sons; William W. Chandler and Martin C. Chandler both served in Co. "F", 19th Georgia Infantry the "Carroll Guards" in the eastern/Virginia theater of the war. His oldest son, Hiram Bennett Chandler served in the 7th Confederate Cavalry until the summer of 1864 when it was merged with the 10th Georgia Cavalry until surrendering in North Carolina at the end. William died in Winchester, Virginia of typhoid fever and is buried there. Martin fought in many battles and was wounded but survived the war.
