Pennington Gap, VA Alice Moore Barker, age 88, of Pennington Gap, VA went to be with the Lord on Friday morning, June 7, 2013 at Lee Nursing and Rehab Center in Pennington Gap after an extended illness. She was born in Pennington Gap on March 15, 1925 and was a lifelong resident of Lee County. Alice worked at the Nuclear Plant in Oak Ridge, TN during WWII. Later she worked at the Lee Theater, was a sales clerk at May & Company Department Store, then worked as a telephone operator with the C&P Telephone Company in Pennington Gap. She was a loving wife, mother, grandmother,great grandmother and a loving sister. She was a member of Belcher's Chapel Baptist Church. Alice was preceded in death by her parents: Worley and Ora Moore: Three sisters, Nettie Lee and Billie Marie Moore and June Moore McFarland and one brother, Jerry Moore. Three nephews and 3 brothers-in-law.
She is survived by her loving husband of 55 years, Theodore Barker of Pennington Gap, VA, One son, Jeff Barker and wife Ann of Dryden, VA. Two grandchildren, Desiree Alexander and fiance Kevin Satterfield and Chelsea Barker and fiance Richard Evans. Three grandsons, Jadon and Colton Alexander, and Bryson Evans all of Dryden, VA. Two brothers, J.C. Moore and wife Agnes of West Carrollton, Ohio, Wayne Moore and wife Pat of Noblesville, IN. Five sisters, Betty Ward, Funkstown, MD, Margie Williams of Lebanon, VA, Lorene and Cecil Garrett of Abingdon, VA, Mary Etta and Pete Moore, and Carol and Dave Willis of Pennington Gap, VA, Sisters-in-law, Virginia Moore of Dayton, OH, Margarette Barker of Dryden, VA and Mrs. Coolidge Robbins of Dallas, TX. Many neices, nephews and extended family members and a host of friends.
