Daniel was born in Straidnahanna,Atrium County, Northern Ireland April 15 1825. His parents were Daniel and Betty (Sharp) Logan. His siblings were: Nancy, William, Thomas, Samuel, James, Nancy, Agnus, and Jane. His father remarried to Mary (Todd) Logan. His siblings from that marriage were David and Jane.
According to the 1910 census, Daniel immigrated in 1843. Family letters tell of his older brothers coming to USA first but they went back to Ireland.

Daniel married Phebe on Oct 2 1854 in Knox Illinois. Phoebe was of Dutch decent and had a lazy eye. She (Phebe) was tall and he (Daniel) was short.
