Daughter of Dr. Jesse Ragan Lowther 1799-1880 from Harrison, Charles County, Virginia, and Mahala LaBrun 1807-1881 from Kentucky.

Shortly after Dr. and Mrs. Lowther were married on February 11, 1827 in Virginia, they moved to Crawford County, Arkansas. Shortly after that the family moved to Spadra, Johnson County, Arkansas where they lived their lives. It appears that all their ten children were born in Arkansas.

In about 1864 Mary married Bartholdt J. Dreesen 1834-1903, a farmer from Germany, and they had three children. They divorced/separated about 1870 and he married two more times before his death in El Paso, Texas. He served in the Union Army from New York in the Civil War.

Her second marriage on November 17, 1875 in Marion County, Texas was to Williams Augustus Lockett and they also had three children.
