"Elliott Card Bradley was born in Nelson, New York August 18, 1818, and died at his home in Ottumwa, Iowa March 13, 1900, aged 81 years.
At an early age he moved with his mother to Illinois, where he resided until 1856.
In 1842 he was united in marriage to Miss
Mahalla[sic] Foy of Illinois, with whom he lived happily until 1860. To them were born
four sons, all of whom are living excepting
the youngest who died a few years since. In 1861 he was married to Mrs. Mary Goodwill of Macomb, Illinois. To this union were born
eight children, who, together, with his
bereaved wife, are left to morn their loss.
The surviving children are Julius, William and
Frank of Macedonia; Mrs. John Wright, Mrs. W. F. Musselman, James F., Mrs. Robert Brown, Grant W., Sherman T., George W., of
this city and Mrs. Arthur Summers, of Sioux City.
The deceased came to the state in 1856, and has been a resident of Wapello county for
many years. He was an intelligent and industrious man,
and a worthy, upright and honorable citizen.
He was a man of sterling principles, and thru
many years of trials and afflictions
has proved himself an affectionate and indulgent husband and father.
He leaves as many friends and perhaps
as few enemies as is possible for any man.
In his earlier life he was a member of the
Congregational church and the greater part
of his days has been spent in endeavoring to
serve his Creator. In the past few years he
has been identified with the Christian church
of South Ottumwa, where the funeral
services were held Thursday, March 15, in the presence of many friends and relatives. He was laid to rest in Ottumwa
