William Clifford Bailey was the youngest son of William Walden Bailey and Emma Juliette Borchers. William had four brothers and five sisters. His brothers were...Charles H, Frank Estes, John E, and James A Bailey. His sisters were...Nellie, Margaret Ann, Maude E, Ethel Rose and Marie Bailey.
According to the 1910 Census, William was living with his siblings in a house at 811 Boeke Street in Kansas City, Kansas when he was a year old. By the 1920 Census, when William was 11, the family had moved to 754 Paronee Street in Kansas City, Kansas. In 1930, the census, shows William living with his oldest sister, Nellie and her husband and two children at 352 Clark Street in Shawnee, Kansas. The 1940 Census shows him staying as a guest at the California Hotel on 1138 South Pacific Avenue in Los Angeles, California and working as a stevedore in the shipping yard which means he helped load and unload ships.
The 1940 Census shows that he went to school thru his Sophmore year in High School. In 1946, William enlisted in the Army and fought in World War II. He was a Sargent in the Transportation Corps. On April 2, 1947, he was discharged from the Army and he died a year later on April 1, 1948 at the age of 39.
