John E. Oellig, 66, a retired pharmacist, died of cancer Monday in Sewickley Valley Hospital. He lived at 2018 Grosvenor Drive, Moon Twp.
Mr. Oellig was a graduate of the University of Pittsburgh Pharmacy School and served in the Army Air Corps during World War II. He then took over Oellig Pharmacy in Coraopolis, which had been opened by an uncle, Edwin, in 1907.
Active in community affairs, he was past president of the Airport Area Chamber of Commerce and was a member of the Coraopolis Parking Authority.
Surviving are his wife, Lucile Harrington Oellig; three sons, Robert and Paul Harrington and Dennis J. Oellig, all of Coraopolis; two daughters, Barbara Knotts and Janet Oellig, both of Coraopolis; four grandchildren and a sister, Marjorie Butterbaugh.
Friends may call from 2-4 and 7-9 p.m. today (23rd) in Copeland Coraopolis Funeral Home, 857 Fifth Avenue, Coraopolis, where funeral services will be held at 1 p.m. tomorrow (Fri 24th).
He was buried on Friday March 24 in Coraopolis Cemetery, same stone as his first wife Jean R. McDonald Oellig. Plot is Sec. F, Lot 185, Grave A.
