Mrs. Lena Williams Bowen, member of a pioneer Mississippi County family, and wife of the late John A. Bowen, died at her home 1888 Manila, Memphis, Tuesday night. Mrs. Bowen had lived alone since the death of her husband and son in the U. S. Engineers 17 years ago. She was 79 years of age.
Mrs. Bowen had lived in Memphis 27 years and had been an invalid nine years.
Born in Galesburg, Ill., She was a daughter of the late Mr. and Mrs. J. H. Williams. She was a member of Lamar Heights Presbyterian Church.
Mrs. Bowen leaves a sister, Mrs. F. B. Hale, of Osceola and several nieces and nephews one of whom is Mrs. Felix Nicholson, Glen Allen, Miss., who was reared in Mrs. Bowen's home.
Many friends and relatives out of town attended the funeral conducted at the National Funeral Home. Services were conducted by Rev. V. L. Bryant Wednesday morning at 11:30.
